“It Is Finished” or Is It Just the Beginning?

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.   John 19:30

When Jesus declared ‘It is finished,” gave up his spirit and died He completed the assignment He was sent to Earth to accomplish. He who knew no sin became sin and bore our sin. Thus, taking on himself the punishment for sin and becoming “The Way” for us to once again be found to be in right standing with a righteous holy God.

Yet, His death was just a SEMICOLON! It is NOT the end of the story. After being in the grave for three days and three nights, by the power of the Holy Spirit the brearh of life returned to his mortal body and he was risen from the dead.

In his death he overcame sin; in his resurrection he defeated death, hell and the grave.

His “It is finished” ripped the curtain of the Most Holy Place open, giving ALL access to the very presence of the Almighty. His resurrection and ascension gave us access to have that same power and presence to take residence WITHIN us in His Holy Spirit.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? I Corinthians 6:19

And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”. II Corinthians 6:16

The writers of the New Testament frequently refer to life of a Christian as running a race. As I see, it Jesus ran and completed His leg of the race and then passed the baton to us, His body. Where He was one man and literally changed the history of the world, how much more impact can millions of “members” have when we live our lives following his example of full and complete submission and obedience to the Father. His ending on Earth was our beginning.

So what was His mission and assignment on Earth?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17

His mission was simple, live a sinless life and die to the pay the price for all sin.

So what mission has he left for us?

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:19-20

It’s quite simple actually, be witnesses of the good news of the gospel through our words and actions. Our lives should be such examples of Jesus, and that people come to us just as much as we go to them.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;  I Peter 3:15

That being said, if you have come across this message and don’t know my Jesus let me take just a few moments to tell you why he is so important.

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY –

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

ALL HAVE SINNED –

(10) ‘As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;
(23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ‘  Romans 3:10,23

THE WAGES OF SIN DEATH AND SEPARATION FROM GOD –

‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Romans 6:23

THE SOLUTION –

‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. ‘ John 3:16-17

Noone comes to the Father unless drawn by the Spirit. If at this moment, you feel your heart about to jump out of your chest and realize your life has no purpose, hope or direction. If you are ready for your life to be different and go in a different direction then please take a moment and pray the following.
The prayer itself doesn’t “save” it is ones genuine sincere confession and taking this step by faith that saves.

“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”

I PRAYED THE PRAYER

Humbly in His service,
