I had the opportunity for an early morning drive today, as I had to be at another office an hour away to provide training at 8:00 AM. As I was starting out, I simply asked the Lord if He would let me once again come for a visit. Almost instantly, my spiritual eyes were opened, even as my physical eyes and body continued to see and respond to all that was going on around me in the natural world. What follows is my best effort to recount what the Lord allowed me to see and experience.
When I crossed over, I was sitting in a small, wooden rowboat. I say rowboat, but I saw no actual oars. Jesus was sitting beside me. We sat there for what seemed like a long time in silence, and I simply enjoyed being in His presence. In addition, while I could not see Him, I felt the Holy Spirit hovering, as it were, just off my shoulders and back—at times allowing His weight to gently rest upon me.
As I sat there, I began looking around and peered over the edge of the boat down into the water. However, before I get to what was in the water, let me tell you about the water itself. If you have read my accounts of some of my other trips across the veil, you may remember my description of the water of Chesed. For those who have not read those accounts, let me encourage you to do so, and I will describe the water for you here. The best way I can describe it is as incandescent and clear, yet with running, color-shifting ripples. However, the hues and shades of color are unlike anything I have ever seen with my natural eyes.
Likewise, in the midst of the waters were some of the most amazing aquatic creatures. Like the water, their colors were simply magnificent, and they came in so many different shapes, varieties, and sizes. Some were as small as minnows, while others were multiple feet in length and breadth. At one point, two very specific fish caught my attention:
- The first was literally a swimming rainbow of color and light. It was in the shape of a fish, but it looked as if it were covered in feathers, and it simply glowed with the most brilliant and vibrant colors.
- The second appeared to be akin to a koi fish. However, this one must have been close to five feet long and two feet in breadth. While a typical earthly koi is orange, or orange and white, this one was the purest of shimmering, shining gold.
I pause here before I go on to say that I still can’t believe I get to share this next part of my experience with you. It is not like any of this is normal or anything less than spectacularly amazing, but this next piece is unlike anything I have ever experienced or shared with you all. Here goes…
As my attention returned to the inside of the boat, I noticed a small tray of pastries sitting in front of me. To be honest, they mostly just looked like good old scratch biscuits, like the ones my grandmother used to make. Beside them sat a mug of a steaming hot beverage. As I picked one of the pastries up, I was still pretty sure that was what they were. My opinion quickly changed as I took the first bite. While its texture was that of a perfectly fluffy and flaky biscuit, rather than having butter added on or in it after baking, it was as if the butter was infused directly into the texture of the biscuit itself. It literally melted in my mouth, and it was simply the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in this life.
I say it tasted like butter, but it was not just buttery. I would say it was similar to a honey butter, but somehow I knew the sweetness was not from honey. It was not a honey-sweetness; there were layers of different kinds of sweetness, and each bite was a little different and even better than the one before it.
Before picking up another, I took a gentle sip of the beverage. I remind you, we are sitting in a boat in the middle of the water with no land in sight, and this mug is steaming. As I took my sip, it was the absolute perfect temperature—just hot enough, but not so hot that it burned my mouth or tongue. The flavor, yet again, was almost indescribable. The closest comparison I can make is a perfect, creamy hot chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. That being said, I have never actually tasted those specific things together.
After a few sips, I put it back down, determined to try another of those unbelievable biscuits. Imagine my surprise when the next one I bit into tasted absolutely nothing like the first, despite looking completely identical. This was like biting into a fresh, perfectly fluffy, and warm chocolate-cream-filled éclair. The one difference was that rather than the flavors coming from separate components, they were all fused together. And to think, I thought the first biscuit was delicious beyond measure!
Of course, being where I was, I knew the ingredients for these amazing items could have come from anywhere in His creation. However, I was absolutely shocked and amazed when Jesus told me where they actually came from. (Hang onto your seat, this one is huge!)
He said the ingredients were the product of believers walking in and demonstrating the “Fruit of the Spirit” here on Earth. THE FRUIT PRODUCES FRUIT!
He added that the same joy, pleasure, and delight I received from partaking of them is just a grain of sand compared to the joy, pleasure, and delight the Father experiences just being with His beloved—us.
As I heard that, I felt the Holy Spirit rest down on me yet again, even heavier and more penetrating this time. As He did, I was overwhelmed by the joy and pleasure that He has in me. In the midst of that sensation, I heard the Father say in my spirit, “I am proud of you, my son.”
As I continued to sit there with Him, He gave me some direction about some other specific, personal things that are not pertinent to the rest of this message.
My friends, I truly believe He wants to speak to us and “show us great and mighty things that we do not know.” We just have to be willing to set aside all the other distractions, open our ears and hearts, and ask. I urge you to ask Him for “eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand.”
“Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened.” Or, at the very least, the veil will be pulled back, if just a little.
